UK Tech Investment Weekly Episode 4

UK Tech Investment Round-Up takes place every Monday at 12 pm GMT on Clubhouse, hosted by Manoj Ranaweera of Deal Lite (a product of Techcelerate) with co-hosts, Andrew Threlfall of Malinko (Techcelerate’s largest tech company, which makes scheduling community nursing a walk in the park) and Stewart Townsend, a SaaS Channel Specialist who helped scale Zendesk, DataSift and many others.

Speakers

1. Mark Musson – Humn.ai (Seed)

Mark is the Founder and CEO of Humn.ai, which recently secured Seed Follow On investment from Shell Ventures.

Mark is an experienced business and enterprise architect – also the Chief Product Architect at Humn.ai scaling fast to make insurance work better for mobility.

Mark has spent 25 years finding solutions to problems using data. Humn.ai was founded on the principles of applying super quick machine intelligence to turn mobility data into better insurance prices in real time.

Humn.ai uses science and data in their precision insurance solution, Rideshur is the modern solution to unfair fleet insurance rates, harnessing hundreds of data points to calculate fair premiums in real-time.

2. Oli Marlow Thomas – Ad-Lib Digital (Series A)

Oli is the Founder and CEO of Ad-Lib Digital, which secured £4.32 million Series A investment led by Fog City Capital recently.

Oli, previously the Creative Lead at DoubleClick/Google for five years; is an industry expert, tech boffin, shortlisted as “One To Watch” in an industry Tech Awards. Oli founded Ad-Lib.io in 2017, as he and his team of former Google executives understood the need to close the wide gap between creative concepts and digital media execution.

2. Jamie Grant – Carv (Series A)

Jamie is the Co-Founder of Carv by MotionMetrics, which secured £1.8 million Series A investment led by Artesian Investments.

Jamie is a full-stack coder, who has a passion for skiing which led to him co-founding Carv, due to the difficulty of the learning process for skiing as he experimented with smartphone apps to analyse his performance but found that the smartphone’s sensors had limitations. 

Carv analyses your skiing technique in real-time providing feedback on the slopes and detailed analysis between runs. With an extremely thin smart insert, Carv measures your motion and pressure distribution and relays feedback through your earphones.

4. Tim Groot – Garp (Series A)

Tim is the Co-Founder and CEO of Grip, which secured £9.33 million Series A investment led by Kennet Partners.

Tim started his career in tech, working as an Account Manager for a leading app development agency, Nodes. His passion for events and startups eventually led him to co-found Grip in 2016, before joining forces with artificial intelligence startup Intros to create the first artificial intelligence powered event networking solution. 

Grip empowers professionals and the event industry by providing full-cycle support that facilitates quality interactions. At its core, their proprietary technology drives intelligent recommendations through Grip’s self-learning matchmaking engine. They use natural language processing, advanced algorithms and deep neural networks to constantly learn about the professional goals and interests of visitors, exhibitors and sponsors.

5. Roger Beadle – Limitless Technology (Series B)

Roger is the Co-Founder of Limitless Technology, which recently secured £7.3 million Series B investment led by Redline Capital.

Roger is an experienced entrepreneur and business leader who is reinventing how customer service is delivered via the gig economy. After establishing several businesses in the contact centre industry, Roger co-founded Limitless in 2016 to address some of the biggest challenges faced by the contact centre industry: low pay, high attrition and access to new talent.

Limitless Technology’s GigCX platform powered by AI enables people to earn for providing customer service for their favourite brands. The on-demand cloud platform and app are transforming the way businesses deliver customer service by offering their most loyal customers the opportunity to earn money and rewards by becoming trusted brand ambassadors.
