Deal Lite Ltd finally became its own legal entity on 13th Aprile 2024.

We started our journey in May 2018 when I decided to track what’s happening in the UK tech investment landscape.

Our first activity was just a spreadsheet. Then we launched www.uktechnews.info.

In April 2019, my colleague Asinsala Silva built a couple of Apps on UnifiedVU which was powered by Causeway Technologies‘s Livestax UI framework, which I helped to build in 2013/14.

Prior to this I took on pre-paid customers to justify the build – in essence, having paid customers before a single line of code was written.

We didn’t do anything with Deal Lite web app after this initial build for a long time. We continued to build the Press Release site.

In 2020, with the help of a tiny bounce back loan, I took on staff to focus more on the Press Release site. Safiya Marzook was one of the initial team members. Then Pevini Peiris joined. Since then both have left.

At this time, I have already started incubating SkilledUp Life but I didn’t actually know how to leverage our own volunteers. SkilledUp Life was spun out in Jul 2021 after one year incubation at Techcelerate.

As Deal Lite was built on Causeway Technologies IP, it did not make sense to spin out. After months (or perhaps years) of discussion, we finally got the code base – legals still to be done.

With the help of the best technologist I know (the brains behind Wavebox.io and AxonZeta – also my co-founder of edocr.com and key competitor of my first tech startup, ebdex), we are going to customise the Livestax framework to suit our specific need.

You might not see much changes to start with. But eventually, you will be able to sign up, get access to limited data (trial) and make the decision to subscribe.

Today, Deal Lite is run by SkilledUp Lifers. Two are paid and the rest are volunteering. In future, we hope to create more jobs for our SkilledUp Lifers who help us free in exchange for gaining real experience and skills to improve their career prospects. Thank you all.
