UK Tech Investment Round-Up takes place every Monday at 12 pm GMT on Clubhouse, hosted by Manoj Ranaweera of Deal Lite (a product of Techcelerate) with co-hosts, Andrew Threlfall of Malinko (Techcelerate’s largest tech company, which makes scheduling community nursing a walk in the park for the NHS) and Stewart Townsend, a SaaS Channel Specialist who helped scale Zendesk, DataSift and many others.

Speakers

1. Jack Maddalena – Naurt (Pre-Seed)

Jack is the Co-founder and CEO of Naurt, which secured £500k Pre-Seed investment to expand its operations.

Jack is an entrepreneur, commercial specialist, who has been in the Social Media marketing sector as well as the former sales director and co-founder of VRCraftworks. He co-founded Naurt in 2020, because he realised that GPS and GNSS technologies have too many limitations.

Naurt is a plug-and-play toolkit for high-precision, beacon-free tracking. This solution works anywhere in the world, both indoors and outdoors. With 150 times greater accuracy than GPS and the hardware-agnostic API allows customers to easily integrate location tracking into their existing ecosystems, opening the door to new use cases.

2. Paul Byrne – Pin IoT (Seed)

Paul is the Co-Founder and CEO of Pin IoT, which recently secured £450k Seed investment from existing investors.

Paul is an experienced business leader with business strategy, change management and operations management. He spent about 12 years working at logistics before launching Pin IoT in 2018, as a solution to improve performance of the waste industry.

The Pin IoT solution tracks waste containers and vehicles in real time, enabling a sustained improvement in the performance and financial return of Ro-Ro and Skip operations. For the first time it is now possible to track Ro-Ro’s and skips in real time, at very low cost, offering the prospect of an industry transformation that will reduce costs, improve overall performance and reduce carbon emissions.

3. Oliver von Landsberg-Sadie – BCB Group (Seed)

Oliver is the Founder and CEO of BCB Group, which secured £3.23 million Seed Follow On investment co-led by North Island Ventures and Blockchain.com Ventures.

Oliver has been in investment banking for nearly 20 years. He gained extensive experience in capital markets via quantitative analysis and technology leadership before launching BCB Group. Oliver founded BCB Group in 2017, with his knowledge and experience of financial technology, thanks to his previous highly technical career in finance technology.

BCB Group is Europe’s leading crypto-dedicated payment services provider, serving some of the industry’s largest clients including Bitstamp, Coinbase, Galaxy and Kraken. BCB Group provides payment services in 20+ currencies, FX, cryptocurrency liquidity and digital asset custody.

4. Tom Pickersgill – Orka Technologies (Series A)

Tom is the Co-founder and CEO of Orka Technology Group, which secured £29 million Series A investment from Sonovate.

Tom has a sales and marketing background before he launched Broadstone in 2016 – since rebranded as Orka – after recognising that the traditional recruitment and staffing agency model was broken.

Orka builds products designed specifically for hourly workers, solving challenges around high-turnover, high-volumes and high-velocity employment within traditional industries, such as security, cleaning and other service industries.  

5. Seb Robert – Gophr (Series A)

Seb is the Founder and CEO of Gophr, which secured £4 million Series A investment led by Nauta Capital recently.

Seb is specialised in digital builds, network effects and Digital strategy and has been working in the Marketing sector for over 9yrs before founding Gophr. He founded Gophr in 2014, as a solution to the frustrating, poor service offered by courier services. 

Gophr is a tech platform that enables the booking of professional couriers by business customers and manages the process in real-time. The most advanced courier dispatcher algorithm built, enabling couriers to accept multiple jobs and have the most relevant jobs injected and pooled along their job routes.
