UK Tech Investment Weekly Episode 18

UK Tech Investment Round-Up takes place every Monday at 12 pm BST on Clubhouse, hosted by Manoj Ranaweera of Deal Lite (a product of Techcelerate) with co-hosts, Andrew Threlfall of Malinko (Techcelerate’s largest tech company, which makes scheduling community nursing a walk in the park for the NHS) and Stewart Townsend, a SaaS Channel Specialist who helped scale Zendesk, DataSift and many others.

Speakers

1. Rob Stephenson – FormScore (Pre-Seed)

Rob is the Founder and CEO of FormScore, which recently secured £100k Pre-Seed investment from angel investors.

Rob is a serial entrepreneur and founded/involved in many organizations focused on mental wellbeing. He was also a founding partner in Maven Partners for 10+ years. FormScore was derived from a tool that was given by a therapist, many years ago, as a means of tracking how he feels about his mental wellbeing, using a score out of 10. 

Form Movement Ltd t/a FormScore is a movement and technology solution that helps us be more intentional about our wellbeing by answering the question “How are you today?” with a score, out of ten and connecting with friends, family and trusted colleagues.

2. Douglas Johnson-Poensgen – Circulor (Series A)

Douglas is the CEO and Founder of Circulor, which recently secured £10 million Series A investment led by The Westly Group.

Douglas has 25 years international experience as an Executive and Non Executive Director, operating in TMT, financial services, IT and management consultancy sectors. His leadership experience spans roles in large corporations (Barclays, BT, Serco, AIMIA), scale-ups (Cadence, ISD) and start-ups (Circulor, Snapdragon). He has broad functional experience with consistent themes being innovation (both new product and to drive transformation), delivering growth and regulation.

Circulor’s mission is traceability and due diligence of raw materials, from source to manufacturer. Primary markets are minerals used in electric vehicles and consumer electronics as well as palm oil and clothing sector. Using blockchain and AI, their technology platform is establishing a new global standard for ethically and sustainably sourced minerals.

3. Eduardo Chazan – Collegia (Seed)

Eduardo is the CEO and Founder at Collegia, which secured £500k Seed investment from angel investors.

Eduardo worked in Finance and as the CFO in HomeRefill prior to Collegia. During his MBA, the university staff intensely protested proposed changes to their pension scheme as they were affected by shifting government policy and fast-changing relationships between employers and individuals. Also most pension providers still operated in a pre-digital era which led him to realize that a solution built on transparency, cooperation and efficiency was utterly needed.

Collegia is the UK’s first combined Auto-Enrolment (workplace pension) and Personal Pensions provider which combines employer and personal contributions and also comes with an intuitive retirement planning tool. It recently was awarded FCA and HMRC approval for its novel approach to improving Auto Enrolment provision in the UK.

4. Dr. Helen O’Neill – Hertility Health (Seed)

Helen is the Co-founder and CEO at Hertility Health, which secured £4.2 million Seed investment led by LocalGlobe and Venrex.

Helen is a lecturer in reproductive and molecular genetics and a leading expert in reproductive science. She has a Masters in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine and a PhD in Stem Cell Biology from UCL. Her research focuses on pre-implantation embryo development and the use of CRISPR genome editing to assess understanding and treatment of disorders of infertility. She was awarded in the Top Twenty Women in Data, 2019.

Hertility Health is a science-driven network of care created to give reproductive and hormone health the attention it needs. Hertility helps women get to the root of their symptoms effectively, by providing their community with tailored at-home testing, evidence-based medicine, and educational content.
