UK Tech Investment Weekly Episode 24

UK Tech Investment Round-Up takes place every Monday at 12 pm BST on Clubhouse, hosted by Manoj Ranaweera of Deal Lite (a product of Techcelerate) with co-hosts, Andrew Threlfall of Malinko (Techcelerate’s largest tech company, which makes scheduling community nursing a walk in the park for the NHS) and Stewart Townsend, a SaaS Channel Specialist who helped scale Zendesk, DataSift and many others.

Speakers

1. Eliot Wood – WYSPR (Pre-Seed)

Eliot is the Co-founder of WYSPR, which recently secured £450k Pre-Seed investment via Anglia Capital Group.

Eliot has over 5 years of experience in Sales. While he and his co-founder were students, obsessed with branding and online advertising but particularly Influencer marketing, they set about democratising Influencer marketing. After a year and a half of preparation and hard work, WYSPR was ready to launch.

WYSPR is the world’s first ‘Friendvertising’ and social data collection agency offering a bespoke crowd-promotion service. This way Brands get the most authentic marketing possible whilst giving power back to the individual, allowing them to sell their data and influence in a clean and ethical manner.

2. Stuart Lewis – Rest Less (Series A)

Stuart is the CEO of Rest Less, which recently secured £6.1 million Series A investment led by MTech Capital and Viola FinTech.

Stuart has an extensive track record in the financial services sector. He held a variety of different leadership roles, including Head of Tax Efficient Investments at Octopus Ventures, Head of Consumer Cards for American Express, Online grocery business for Amazon and other leading financial service organizations such as Barclays and Capital One. Rest Less was borne out of personal experience and an inspiration from a television programme which highlighted the benefits of intergenerational mixing.

Intrepid Owls t/a Rest Less is a digital platform for the over 50s and beyond. Rest Less is on a mission to help its members get more out of life and offers content guidance and resources on topics spanning Jobs and Careers, Volunteering, Learning, Money, Health and Lifestyle and Dating.

3. Michael Cockburn – Desana (Seed)

Michael is the Co-founder of Desana, which secured £2.89 million Seed investment led by PropTech 1 Ventures.

Michael and his co-founder Steve started Aura Survey and Design, a company providing innovative surveying solutions for the construction and real estate sectors, where Michael was a Director. Then the coworking space that had first brought them together as friends and collaborators shut down, leading them to founding Desana as a solution.

Desana is an on-demand workspace, enabling companies to manage how their workforce uses space globally. Staff can choose to work from their employer’s own buildings or from Desana’s fast growing global network of flexible workspace operators, with companies having the ability to curate which spaces can be accessed by any member of staff..

4. Peter Bance – Origami (Series C)

Peter is the Founder and CEO of Origami, which secured £20 million Series C investment led by Barclays PLC.

Peter has focused his career on building high growth ventures and technology commercialisation in the cleantech sector. He has a track record of successful fund-raising, led the stock market flotation of an electrochemistry company onto the AIM market in London as CEO.

Origami Energy offers a modular suite of powerful trading solutions on its real-time data platform, all designed to enable more efficient, resilient, and profitable trading operations. These AI-based tools are helping energy companies to continuously harness the shifting commercial opportunities of the global transition to green energy.
